5 Tips For Writing A Good Narrative Essay For Middle School
If you are in middle school you are currently tasked with creating a narrative essay there are many things that you should know.
Below you will find five tips for creating a good narrative essay.
- 1. The first tip is to create a subject matter with which you are familiar. This means that you should have an event or a person or even an object in mind, something that you are personally familiar with. If you have taken a trip to a unique island where you found a local species of monkey which cannot be found elsewhere, you can describe that species better than somebody who's just reading about them.
- 2. You want to avoid using any form of Abstract language. You do not want the reader to guess about the events for the object you were describing and you do not want the reader to guess about the lesson you learned from the object or event. In order to avoid this guessing game you need to use concrete language which allows the reader to form a clear picture in their mind with this clear picture the reader can better understand every aspect of your description including all five senses.
- 3. You want to teach the reader what lesson you learn from whatever it is you are describing. You should never just describe your favorite food or your favorite animal. You should try to focus on something which taught you an important lesson or something from which you learned another aspect to yourself.
- 4. Make sure to tackle every one of the senses. All five senses should be covered and if you are describing anything in the course of your narration make sure to ask yourself if you described what you felt, what you saw, what you heard, what you smelled, and what you tasted. Include as many of these as possible.
- 5. Finally you want to be sure that you review everything you wrote and it all fits within the parameters of your project. The last thing you want is to start working on an assignment only to find that you did not review the details correctly and you ended up doing something wrong.
Remember that if you have any questions you can always ask your teacher to explain something to you or to help you with the assignment at hand.
